For over two decades, Ilene has practiced exclusively in the area of family law. She has extensive experience in complex litigation as well as the amicable resolution of complex family matters. Ilene is committed to educating and empowering her clients reach sound solutions focused on what is important to the client.
Ilene provides a high level of client of service. Ilene’s strengths are her attention to detail, knowledge of the law, empathy and relationships with other professionals, all of which she uses to achieve successful resolution, whether through litigation or settlement. Her practice includes the resolution of sensitive custody matters and complex financial issues such as child support, alimony and marital property in matters involving closely held businesses, stock options, executive compensation plans, undisclosed income and hidden assets.
After years of experience Ilene believes that most family law disputes can be resolved without the emotional and financial strain of litigation and works to achieve peaceful resolutions where possible. Ilene is a trained mediator, child’s attorney, Collaborative Law practitioner and Parent Coordinator. She also works with network of other professionals, including mental health professions, financial planners, accountants, real estate and mortgage brokers.
Ilene’s dedication to the family law community is reflected in the fact that she has been voted a Best Lawyer in America by her peers since 2015 and included in Super Lawyers since 2021. She regularly teaches and writes about complex family law issues. She is currently on the Executive Committee for the Family; Juvenile Section Council of the Maryland State Bar and is an active member of the Family Law Section of the Baltimore County Bar Association, for which she has served as chair of several programs. Ilene is a member of Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) which enables her to stay abreast of the latest research on a
wide breadth of issues affecting families going through separation and divorce. She is actively working to expand her Collaborative Law Practice to provide interested clients the opportunity for a more holistic and peaceful approach to restructure their life. She is a member of the Collaborative Professionals of Baltimore and Howard County Collaborative Professionals.
Outside of work, Ilene enjoys spending time with her two sons, travel, and reading. She also sits on the Board of The Legacy School, a non-profit school for dyslexic children and is active with the Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle.
